In 2020, the French pharmaceutical and healthcare company by the name of Sanofi generated approximately 25.7 billion U.S. dollars through its pharmaceuticals segment. Sanofi’s relatively new consumer healthcare segment earned the company about 4.4 billion U.S. dollars in that year.
Sanofi’s top products
Sanofi develops various pharmaceutical products, including Aubagio, Lovenox, and Dupixent. In 2018 as well as 2019, one of the company’s top products based on revenue was Lantus. In 2020, this long-acting insulin used to treat diabetes, generated some 2.7 billion U.S. dollars. Aubagio earned the company roughly two billion U.S. dollars within the same year.
Top U.S. drugs
Based on sales numbers, Humira was by far the top prescription drug in the United States in 2020. The drug generated over 20 billion U.S. dollars in the United States that year, while Eliquis, which stood in second place, reached about 10 billion U.S. dollars. The country’s most prescribed medicines, however, were Atorvastatin, Lisinopril, and Levothyroxine. One hundred eighten million prescriptions for atorvastatin were dispensed in 2019.
